Background

Vern'thul does not bloom. It awakens.

Crawling on gnarled root-limbs that pulse with internal sap-light, this massive, ambulatory flytrap prowls the fault-scars of Rauk'shavar with purposeful hunger. Its petals are thick with bone-veins and obsidian teeth, folding inwards with wet finality. Vern'thul does not stalk prey - it shapes the air, bending presence itself until you walk willingly into its mouth.

It is ancient. It remembers the taste of angels.

Description

Traits / Abilities

  • Lure-Mimic Bloom - Reproduces consumed voices and languages with perfect cadence, often blending them into ambient whispers.
  • Tectonic Rootstep - Bursts root-limbs from fractured ground to displace terrain, launch itself, or impale prey from below.
  • Will-Snare Maw - Senses and reacts to intent rather than action - hesitation, betrayal, or fear can trigger the bite.
  • Cognitive Sap - Absorbs useful knowledge from the devoured; over time, it develops new tactics, spoken phrases, or magical behaviors.
  • Regrowth Blight - Severed parts regrow quickly, but also root into the environment, slowly corrupting the land with carnivorous growths.
