Background
Shaalthyr is not seen - it is remembered. A serpent of impossible length, gliding through the edge-planes of the Silence, its scales shimmer between timelines like oil over prophecy. It never truly arrives. You only know it passed because the ground behind you reshapes, and your future begins to ache.
Its body doesn't move through space - it moves through moments. When it coils, things you haven't done yet begin to unravel. When it sheds, the world forgets the version of you that survived.
Description
Traits / Abilities
- Temporal Shedding - As it moves, Shaalthyr peels away failed or alternate versions of reality. Those caught in its wake may be rewritten: changed history, undone deaths, skills that were never learned, wounds that were never earned - all at once.
- Serpent of Intervals - Shaalthyr does not strike with force, but with absence - eliminating the moment a defense would have happened. Shields rise too late. Wards unravel before they're cast. It strikes between outcomes.
- Mirage Spine - Its scales reflect not illusions, but branching truths. Witnessing them may force creatures to live out one of those futures - including ones where they are the monster. Some never return.
- Silence-Knot - When Shaalthyr coils, it forms a sealed locus in time. Nothing within may act, speak, age, or die. Those caught inside are trapped in perfect, paralyzing stasis, sometimes for days, sometimes for years.
